Need a Modification Plate for a car or vehicle? Whether you modify your engine, add a long range fuel tank or convert to LPG, give us a call.
Modified vehicles can be something powerful and recognisable. Modifications can improve engine performance, fulfil a specialised purpose or establish an unforgettable road identity. Options are near limitless within reason.
If you intend to modify your vehicle then you will first need to check if you need a modification plate, dependant on the type of mod, and then obtain a modification plate from an authorised inspection service provider. You can check if the modification you intend to make requires an inspection by checking the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads website.
The Modification Plate protects you, your vehicle, your family and your wallet by determining if all modifications have been completed and installed in a safe and roadworthy manner.
Modified vehicles must comply with vehicle standards and guidelines, as set out by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, before a modification plate can be approved. Read the following documents for standards and guidelines:

Some common modifications that require a modification plate inspection include:

- Ute Tray changes
- Lights or Indicator replacement
- Seating Capacity
- Motorcycle Side-cars
Things to Remember:
- A modification plate can only be obtained from an authorised examiner.
- To apply for a Modification Plate license, a mechanic must be qualified and active for no less than ten years. All mechanics must pass a strenuous examination process before achieving a license.
- A modification plate is not required for minor changes, including (but not limited to) mag wheels, tinted windows, paint change or leather interior.
